Matt Horanzy Quintet presents:
The Carly Thaw Project
"The Carly Thaw Project" is a musical/artistic collaboration between myself (artist) and composer/guitarist Matt Horanzy (MFA Jazz Composition, University of South Florida; BA Music, American University). I painted a 5-piece series to be accompanied by an original 5 movement jazz suite composed by Matt and performed live by himself and 4 other musicians. The series is based off of my experience growing up in West Virginia and the culture shock of moving and living in Washington, DC.
The Carly Thaw Project was performed live at American University in October, 2017. The original paintings were displayed in the lobby and then as large projected backdrops during the live performance of the music. Recordings are from the October, 2017 live performance.
